When selecting a cooling unit, a fundamental choice has to be made. Either a traditional cooling belt or a compact cooler can be chosen. Whereas in the past cooling belts were dominating the market, in recent times customers tend to prefer compact coolers.
Cooling belts occupy much space, for high volume lines they may be 9m long, or even more. Compact coolers are significantly shorter, freeing up space, the tradeoff is that they are higher, so the outlet of the extruder needs to be at least as high, this may or may not be possible if height is constrained.
